The significance of enacting SOGIE Equality legislation cannot be overstated.
Discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people is widespread, and we must take action to address it. The recent passage of a SOGIE Equality Law is an important first step toward ensuring that all people, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, are treated with dignity and respect.
The solution is straightforward: educate people on how they can help ensure that everyone feels safe and welcome in their communities. This can be accomplished through awareness campaigns and other efforts to increase public awareness of LGBTQIA+ rights.
With the passage of the bill, institutions will be unable to refuse or revoke accreditation, registration, or formal recognition into any SOGIE-based groups, organizations, political parties, or establishments. Refusing to grant basic rights to a professional license or similar documents will also be prohibited. Housing, lodging, or services open to the public must be available to all; refusing admission or expelling someone based on SOGIE is prohibited.
